School canteen in the children's, youth and cultural centre of the community of Oberhaid
DE – Oberhaid
The community of Oberhaid, located in the Main valley between Bamberg and Schweinfurt, has realised a prestigious project with the construction of a new school canteen. Since the beginning of the school year 2018, the canteen kitchen has been used for cooking with thermal appliances from the PALUX ProfiLine series.
Before that, the 1st mayor, Carsten Joneitis, already had the idea for years to change the previously confined premises. Long before construction began in 2014, those responsible in the community were looking for a suitable location until they finally decided to build a new building on the community's own property right next to the school. The difficult question of how to finance the unique concept was also finally resolved – the Upper Franconia Foundation, the Bavarian government, the Bamberg district and the Bavarian Youth Ring subsidised the project with a grant of 50 percent. After almost four years, the 2.1 million euro construction project was successfully completed in mid-September 2018.
Carsten Joneitis, in particular, was visibly proud: “The project enjoys the full backing of both me as the 1st mayor and the local council. It is a flagship in the entire region. As the school's sponsor, we are also fulfilling our social responsibility to a certain extent.”
Lunchtime supervision, all-day school, cafeteria, dining room, library and youth club – all under one roof
Before the redesign of the premises, cooking for almost 50 children was done in the existing household kitchen of only 20 m². Due to the increasing demand, the community decided early on to professionalise the community catering. Through a public tender PALUX was noticed and the decision was finally made for a high-quality professional kitchen of the Bad Mergentheim manufacturer.
In the new canteen kitchen, up to 120 meals can now be easily prepared on an area of approx. 60 m². Afterwards, the used dishes can then be professionally cleaned. The counter is completely furnished by PALUX with stainless steel furniture from the Ecoline series and borders directly on the dining room. There the catering participants can eat the warm meals on 80 m².
Sabine Neuß ensures a well-balanced menu. A healthy meal is a matter of the heart for her: “It is frightening that some children are sent to school without any snacks. That's why I cook fresh and varied meals every day with my colleague. Our menus consist of a starter, a main course and a small dessert. Of course we take the different eating cultures such as vegetarian or halal into account.”
New commercial kitchen appliances from PALUX convince already with the first use
Before the official opening of the school canteen took place, a trial lunch with the community staff was held on 5 September 2018. The reason for this action: On this very day the obligatory kitchen instruction of the chef's team took place. Our responsible regional sales manager as well as another PALUX application consultant explained the new appliances in detail to Mrs. Neuß's team. Together a delicious three-course menu was cooked, which tasted very good to all test eaters.
Sabine Neuß was visibly enthusiastic about the first use of the new PALUX pan: “It's really easy and fast. This will be my favourite device for sure.”
